An important trend exists in today’s labor market: the companies attracting the best employees do so because their managers see themselves as gardeners instead of mechanics. Mechanics fix up and repair employee weaknesses. Gardeners develop their available resources. They strengthen employee strengths and in so doing, facilitate sustainable (self) motivation and personal development. The result is a more positive work environment and greater productivity.
